The Ease of Switching Auto Insurers

You don’t need to wait until it’s time to renew – change your auto insurance carrier anytime.

Whether you’re craving better customer service, aiming to consolidate your insurance policies or seeking a lower premium, switching your auto insurance provider doesn’t have to be a hassle. You don’t even have to wait until policy renewal to make a change.

Amica makes it easy with just three simple steps:

STEP 1: Get a Quote

Like many carriers, Amica offers an online quoting option, but to determine the coverage that meets all of your needs, it’s best to speak with a customer service representative.

“We want to take the time,” says Matt Brittin, Assistant Vice President at Amica. “We want to be sure that we’re putting our best foot forward and that we’re answering all of the customer’s questions and having a discussion about what their needs really are.”

“I would say switching carriers is easier now than it has ever been. There are no real barriers.” – Matt Brittin, Amica.

STEP 2: Sign the Application

Once you’ve worked with an Amica representative to define your coverage needs and have chosen a policy that’s right for you, your coverage can be bound. All that’s left is to cancel with your current carrier and sign the application.

It’s easy. An application is issued electronically to you and can be filled out at your leisure. It just needs to be returned within seven business days.

“I think a lot of folks are concerned about a lot of paperwork and back and forth,” Brittin explains. “That’s why we do all of our underwriting and data gathering upfront, so it’s extremely easy to switch if and when the customer wants to move forward.”

STEP 3: Let Your Current Carrier Know

Once you’ve completed the application process, you should let your current auto insurance carrier know you’re changing providers. This is as simple as calling a customer service representative and letting him or her know the date your Amica coverage goes into effect to avoid any gaps.

At this point, you’ll also want to let them know where to return any unearned premium in the event you’re changing providers before you’re up for renewal.

“I would say switching carriers is easier now than it has ever been,” Brittin assures. “There are no real barriers.”
